Frequently Asked Questions

 Q: How do I remove My Mobile Watchdog from my childs android device?

A:

From the phone:
Click on the settings icon.
Click on Security.
Click on device administration
Click on MyMobileWatchdog. If you do not see our app here proceed to step two.
Click the deactivate button and enter in your password.

Once you have finished deactivating MyMobileWatchdog you are ready to remove the software from the phone.
 
Click on settings.
Click on applications
Click on manage applications
Locate MyMobileWatchdog and uninstall our software.

Getting Started

Q: Will my child know that I have downloaded the My Mobile Watchdog software to their phone?

A:  Yes. There is a visible My Mobile Watchdog icon on your child’s phone and we display a warning message daily.

Q: Can my child remove the software?

A:  No. We password protect the removal on Android devices.

      Blackberry users: We recommend blocking settings from the applications tab.

Q: How do I block a contact?

A: We do not block contacts. Research shows if you block your child the will just use a different phone.

Q: How do I monitor communication from my parent’s phone?

A: Click Setting>Notifications>ON.  We send you an email or text message whenever your child sends/receives communication from a stranger or someone you flag as an alert.

Q: How to I set a contact to be alerted?

A: Your child’s tab>contacts tab>highlight contact>click alert.

Q: How do I block Facebook or the internet?

A: Your child’s tab>applications tab>highlight application>click block.

Q: I cannot see my child’s locations when clicking on the location tab, why?

A: From your child’s phone>settings>location>GPS>check all boxes>wait 30 minutes.

Q: I have not received the text message needed to download software on android device. Can you help?

A: From your child’s phone>playstore icon>search MMWD>download child app>open>register.

Q: Will my child know when I am reading messages or viewing items?

A: No. They will know you have the ability due to the daily warning message.

Q: Can I turn off the warning message.

A: No

Q: How can I hide your software so that my child does not know I am monitoring the phone?

A: It is illegal in most states to hide monitoring software on a phone.

Q: I blocked applications but my child can still access these applications, why?

A: Our application takes communicating through the data channel to make these changes. Expect changes to take place within 30 minutes most of the time.

Q: Can I do a manual synch to speed up any recent changes?

A: Yes. From your child’s phone>click My Mobile Watchdog app>Log in>synch>resynch.

Q: Does my child need a data plan?

A: Yes. A data plan or WiFi (android) is needed at all times.

Q: How much data does your program use?

A: It really depends on your child’s usage. I would check data usage with your carrier after a couple of days to see what has been used and adjust your plan if needed.

Q: How do I add my 2nd child phone to my existing account?

A: Settings>Add Child

Q: What is your best recommendation on how I should use your product for my 10 year old Daughter?

Young Child (Ages 7-10)

Application Blocking: Block Browser, Social media sites like Facebook/Twitter, Settings & any Task manager programs.

Time-Blocking: Block School hours (8am-3pm) Bedtime hours (8pm-6am) Weekends (10pm-8am)

Notifications: Turn on notification’s (settings>notifications) Add additional address if needed.

Daily Watch Email: Monitor the daily watch email sent out each day. This email will alert you of any new contacts added, new applications downloaded, and confirmation that your child’s phone is making contact with our system.

Tween (Ages 11-14)

Application Blocking: Block Social media sites like Facebook/Twitter, Settings & any Task manager’s.

Time-Blocking: Block School hours (8am-3pm) Bedtime hours (10pm-6am) Weekends (11pm-8am)

Notifications: Turn on notification’s (settings>notifications) Add additional address if needed.

Daily Watch Email: Monitor the daily watch email sent out each day. This email will alert you of any new contacts added, new applications downloaded, and confirmation that your child’s phone is making contact with our system.

Teenagers (15-17)

Application Blocking: Block Social media sites like Facebook/Twitter, Settings & any Task manager’s.

Time-Blocking: Block Bedtime hours (11pm-6am) Weekends (12pm-8am)

Notifications: Turn on notification’s (settings>notifications) Add additional address if needed.

Daily Watch Email: Monitor the daily watch email sent out each day. This email will alert you of any new websites, new contacts added, new applications downloaded, and confirmation that your child’s phone is making contact with our system.

Existing Users 

Q: My child’s phone needed to be replaced. How do I add it to my account?

A: Child’s tab>Device Tab>Deleted Device>Confirm. Follow Steps.

Q: What phones you support? What is the best phone?

A:  Android and Blackberry. Android offer the best set of features.

Q: How can I cancel my account?

A: Settings>Cancel Account>Choose reason>Choose description>Delete Account.

Q: If I delete my account can I still retrieve my child’s information if I change my mind?

A: No. All data is deleted.

Q: How do I change my credit card or billing information?

A: Settings>Billing>Make change>Update

Q: I blocked applications but my child can still access these applications, why?

A: Our application takes communicating through the data channel to make these changes. Expect changes to take place within 30 minutes most of the time.

A: Check the following: Can you see the MyMobileWatchdog Icon on your child’s phone? Did you make changes to the data plan with your wireless carrier? Is your child’s phone off or out of range? Create a support ticket with details on what you checked.

         

Q: How do I create a support ticket?
